Frequently Asked Questions

Are Your Rings Murano Glass?
Nope.  The rings we carry are fashioned after Murano glass, resemble Murano glass and are incredibly vivid and beautiful in their own right, but they are not Murano glass.  True Murano glass, at least in our opinion, embodies not only the Murano and Venetian glass making techniques refined by centuries but is also imported from the island of Murano.

Just like 'vintage style jewelry' isn't vintage jewelry and Victorian Revival jewelry isn't Victorian jewelry, these Murano style rings are not Murano glass based on our own definition, above.  Yes, we know there are many resellers out there (wholesalers too) who are claiming their $5 or $10 rings are Murano glass, but they're not.  We've tried to make sure all our listings accurately describe our inventory as 'Murano style' rather than 'Murano' because we value our online reputation and we don't want to mislead anyone.

However, the items in our inventory are handcrafted, colorful, whimsical and fun, worth what we're asking for them and with care (please see 'Glass Ring Care' on our Glass Ring Sizing page), you will enjoy your purchase for years to come.  If all goes well, in the future we hope to add a page specifically devoted to true Murano glass rings as well as other styles of glass rings.

Tips for Purchasing Murano Glass Rings.  If your heart is set on a Murano glass ring, there are a couple of things to keep in mind:
  • Unless you're buying from a secondary market (i.e., a thrift store or someone selling their personal property is considered a secondary market), expect to pay anywhere from around $25 up to around $80 for a true Murano glass ring - the more intricate the workmanship, the higher the cost.  Millefiori rings, for example, will run higher because of the level of craftsmanship involved in their manufacture.
  • If a retailer labels their product 'Murano glass,' be sure to scout out their website to make sure they're actually stating, in writing, that their product is imported from Italy.
  • Keep in mind that just because an item comes from Murano, Italy doesn't mean it's quality.  If you're searching for a true Murano ring, make sure it's quality and worth the money you'll be spending.  Check the jewelry from all angles if possible - look for any blank or open spots in the design.  Acquaint yourself with the seller's return policies and check to see whether they specify - either on their website or with a Certificate of Authenticity sent with your order - that your purchase is, indeed, authentic Murano glass.
Off the top of my head, I know of two retailers that offer genuine Murano glass rings.  These are NOT recommendations and it's certainly not an inclusive list, but if you're read this far, perhaps it will help in your search:

Glass of Venice (This link goes directly to their rings page)
